Jonathan Gumpel, director at Aubrey Capital Management, has joined the Downing liquid alternatives team as head of multi-asset, the firm has announced today.
As part of the move and subject to FCA approval, Gumpel’s current £9m UCITS fund, SVS Aubrey Citadel, will be brought under Downing management, and he will also be transferring an existing mandate for a second fund.
Previously in his career, Gumpel was the co-founder of Brooks MacDonald, which he left in 2019, after running the Brooks MacDonald Defensive Capital fund and growing it to £700m.
His Aubrey colleague Renato Guerrieri will also join Downing as head of quantitative strategies.
Gumpel said: “I am delighted to bring my defensive strategy to Downing and to be able to build it out with the team.”
